SPIRITUAL ADVANTAGE 1

PROPHET DR ABIODUN ADESIDA

Text:
“Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.”

Message

Life is not only physical; many battles wear ordinary clothes but carry spiritual handwriting. Some battles are family battles, some are destiny battles, some are battles of envy, delay, fear, accusation, sickness, poverty, and ancestral limitations. That is why God does not want His children to fight blindly.

A blind fighter may be energetic, but energy without direction can turn a man into a professional shadow boxer. He will sweat seriously, shout loudly, and still beat nothing.

God gives His people spiritual advantage.

David did not defeat Goliath because he was physically stronger. If strength was the matter, Goliath would have used David as toothpick after lunch. David won because he entered the battle with advantage.

Goliath came with sword, spear, and shield. David came with the name of the Lord, covenant confidence, prophetic courage, and a sling. In modern language, Goliath entered a sword fight, but David came with something like a sniper weapon. The man expected close combat, but David ended the meeting from a distance.

Historically, a well-trained slinger could release a stone at very high speed, often estimated around 60 to 100 miles per hour, and sometimes even more depending on skill, sling length, and stone weight. That means David’s stone was not a casual pebble strolling through the air; it was judgment with velocity. It was small in appearance but heavy in assignment.

Beloved, never despise the advantage God gives you because it does not look like another person’s weapon.

Types of Spiritual Advantage God Gives

1. The Advantage of His Name
David said, “I come to thee in the name of the LORD.” The name of the Lord is not decoration; it is divine authorization.

2. The Advantage of Wisdom
Wisdom helps you know when to speak, when to move, when to wait, and when to throw the stone. Many battles are lost because people are anointed but not wise.

3. The Advantage of Prophetic Insight
God can open your eyes to know the spirit behind a situation. When you understand the source of a battle, you stop wasting prayer on the branches while the root is laughing underground.

4. The Advantage of Skill
David’s sling was not new to him. What he used in private against the lion and the bear became useful in public before Goliath. Do not neglect your training season.

5. The Advantage of Covenant Confidence
David knew Israel had a covenant with God. Goliath saw soldiers; David saw covenant people. What you know about God determines how you stand before trouble.

6. The Advantage of Divine Timing
David arrived at the battlefield at the right time. When God orders your steps, even your arrival becomes a weapon.

Reflection

Reflection

Do not fight spiritual battles blindly. Ask God for your advantage. Sometimes your advantage is prayer. Sometimes it is silence. Sometimes it is wisdom. Sometimes it is a prophetic instruction. Sometimes it is one small skill God has been developing in you quietly.

Goliath may look big, loud, armed, and terrifying, but one God-given advantage can make a giant fall like a tree without root.

Food for Thought

When God gives you advantage, size becomes irrelevant and noise becomes powerless.

Prayer

Prayer

O Lord, open my eyes to the spiritual advantage You have given me. Teach me not to fight blindly. Give me wisdom, prophetic insight, courage, timing, and covenant confidence. Let every Goliath standing before my destiny fall by the power of Your name, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
