Devotional Thought
A Christian is not merely called to be available; a Christian is called to be faithful.
But today, many believers have mastered the costume of Christianity without experiencing the conversion of the heart. We have people who know how to say “Praise the Lord” with confidence, but cannot forgive their neighbor without holding a family meeting. They know when to shout “Amen,” but obedience is still under serious negotiation.
Religion without transformation is one of the most dangerous customs in the church. It gives a man the vocabulary of heaven while his character is still sponsored by the world.
Some people have church language, but no Christlike life. They can quote Scripture but cannot submit to Scripture. They attend services regularly, but surrender rarely attends with them. They carry Bible like identity card, but their heart has not received the constitution of the Kingdom.
Beloved, Christianity is not a uniform we wear on Sunday and remove on Monday. It is not a spiritual perfume sprayed over an unchanged life. It is not a choir robe covering a rebellious heart. Christianity is Christ living in us until our thoughts, choices, habits, appetite, and behavior begin to look like heaven.
The Romans once complained about the customs of Christians because believers were different from them. What a powerful testimony! The early church did not need to announce holiness with a microphone; their lifestyle preached before their mouth opened.
But today, the tragedy is this: many Christians are no longer being rejected by the world because they are too godly; they are being accepted because they have become too similar.
The early church stood out. The modern church often wants to fit in. The early believers influenced culture. Today, culture is interviewing the church and giving us employment letters.
But the Gospel was never designed to blend comfortably into every culture. It was designed to confront, cleanse, correct, and transform culture.
A custom may be popular and still be poisonous. A lifestyle may be trending and still be leading people away from God. Everybody may be doing it, but “everybody” is not the Holy Spirit. Public opinion is not Scripture. Social media approval is not divine approval.
God is not looking for religious actors. He is not recruiting people who can perform Christianity before men but deny its power in private. He is looking for transformed disciples; men and women whose lives carry the culture of heaven in a generation addicted to compromise.
Beloved, do not just learn church customs. Let Christ transform your character. Do not only speak the language of Zion; live the life of Zion. Do not be a Christian by decoration. Be a Christian by transformation.
Lessons For Today
1. Church attendance is good, but surrender is better.
2. Scripture quotation without obedience is spiritual noise.
3. Christianity is not meant to decorate your life; it is meant to change your life.
4. The believer’s standard is not culture, popularity, or public opinion, but the Word of God.
5. The church must influence the world, not borrow its identity from the world.

A custom may be common among men and still be condemned by God. The believer’s standard is not popularity, culture, or public opinion, but the eternal Word of God.
