DON’T LET THE PHILISTINES MAKE YOU ANOTHER MAN

PROPHET DR ABIODUN ADESIDA

TEXT: JUDGES 16:17–18

«“If I be shaven, then my strength will go from me, and I shall become weak, and be like any other man.”

Today’s message

Read and reflect

Samson’s story is painfully modern.

He was anointed but careless, gifted but undisciplined, powerful publicly but vulnerable privately.

If Samson were alive today, perhaps his ministry page would be trending. His crusade banner might read: “SAMSON FIRE CONFERENCE — Destroying Philistine Strongholds!”

The testimonies would be impressive: He killed a lion! Carried the gates of Gaza! Defeated a thousand men!

Yet the man everybody feared publicly was quietly losing a battle privately.

And there is our uncomfortable Christian mirror.

We can speak in tongues for forty minutes and refuse to speak to our spouse for four days. We can post “God First” on WhatsApp when God has barely heard from us since Sunday. We can preach holiness while secretly negotiating with compromise.

A gift can remain visible while character is bleeding underneath.

WHEN THE ENEMY CHANGES STRATEGY

The Philistines repeatedly tried force against Samson and failed. Eventually, they changed strategy:

“Stop fighting him where he is strong. Find where he is careless.”

That strategy still works.

The devil does not necessarily need you to renounce Christ. Sometimes he only needs you to become comfortable with what once troubled your conscience.

He whispers:

“Everybody does it.”

“Times have changed.”

“God understands.”

Of course God understands—but His understanding does not rename darkness as light.

And our Delilahs do not always wear dresses.

Delilah may be money, pornography, an ungodly relationship, bitterness, pride, political influence, social-media validation, the desperation for titles, or even ministry success.

Anything repeatedly asking you to surrender what God told you to protect has started behaving like Delilah.

THE LORDS, THE GIFT AND THE PRICE

The Philistine rulers promised Delilah silver to discover Samson’s secret (Judges 16:5).

Suddenly, affection became a transaction.

Christianity still has its own silver coins.

A minister can dilute truth because an important donor is sitting in front. A Christian can falsify figures Monday to Friday and shout “Hallelujah!” on Sunday as if volume can edit the accounts in heaven.

We pray, “Lord, bless the work of my hands,” while those same hands are sometimes busy adjusting receipts.

Beloved, not every money is favour. Not every open door is divine. Not every gift is free.

Some opportunities are traps wearing neckties.

Delilah received the silver, but Samson paid the bill.

“I SHALL BECOME LIKE ANY OTHER MAN”

Here lies the real tragedy.

The Philistines did not merely want Samson dead; they wanted him ordinary.

Samson’s hair was not a magical battery containing supernatural electricity. It represented his Nazirite consecration to God (Judges 13:5; Numbers 6:1–5).

His distinction was rooted in divine calling and consecration.

So the enemy attacked what separated him unto God.

That battle continues today.

If Satan cannot stop you from attending church, he will try to make sure church stops changing you.

If he cannot take away your Bible, he will try to make sure your Bible no longer controls your decisions.

If he cannot remove your title, he will attack the substance behind it.

You may still be called Pastor, Prophet, Apostle, Evangelist, Deacon or Prayer Warrior, while heaven quietly asks:

“Where is the person I originally called?”

STILL SHAKING

After Samson's hair was shaved, he woke and declared:

«“I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself.”
— Judges 16:20»

That sentence frightens me.

He expected yesterday’s power despite today’s compromise.

Sometimes religious machinery keeps moving even when spiritual reality has changed.

The microphone still works.

The choir still sings.

The sermon still sounds powerful.

Facebook comments still say, “More grace, sir!”

Yet heaven may be calling the person behind the microphone back to the secret place.

Never mistake people’s applause for God’s approval.

CHECK YOUR CONSECRATION

Sometimes we are busy binding Philistines when God is asking us to examine ourselves.

Not every battle requires another enemy to blame.

Sometimes we need to repent.

Sometimes we need to delete a number.

Sometimes we need to leave a relationship.

Sometimes we need to return money.

Sometimes we need to apologize.

Sometimes we simply need to put down the phone, pick up the Bible and say:

“Lord, I have been wrong.”

It may not sound like a sophisticated prophetic prayer, but heaven understands it perfectly.

Reflection

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

The greatest tragedy is not losing money, position or popularity.

It is becoming comfortable as a version of yourself God never intended you to become.

Do not exchange conviction for acceptance.

Do not exchange character for charisma.

Do not exchange your family for applause.

Do not exchange consecration for opportunity.

Do not exchange God's presence for people's praise.

Delilah received the silver, but Samson became another man.

Whatever God has placed upon your life, guard it.

DON’T LET THE PHILISTINES MAKE YOU ANOTHER MAN.

Prayer

PRAYER

Father, expose every compromise gradually becoming normal in my life. Deliver me from every appetite, relationship, opportunity or ambition designed to weaken my consecration. Give me grace to protect what You have deposited in me. May I never retain the appearance of spiritual strength while losing fellowship with You. Keep me faithful to the person You called me to be, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
